Subject: NFIRS Training Survey - Preliminary Results

Good Afternoon,

As mentioned yesterday, the survey officially closed on Monday, December 22nd.  Based on the amount of calls that were waiting for me this morning from gentlemen who were nervous that they didn't have a chance to participate prior to the survey closing, I have opened the survey for today and tomorrow after notifying each caller.

As of the twenty-second, there were 257 respondents.  85% of the respondents indicated that they did have a department computer.  Of those departments who indicated that they didn't have a computer on site, 96% did have access to a computer with internet.  79% of the respondents currently report electronically.  Of those currently reporting, 60% are using approved vendor software.  Of the 40% using the Federal Client Tool, only 39% indicated that they were not comfortable with it's use.  We only had 198 responses to the question asking what type of training was needed and of those 69% were looking for Basic training while 52% were looking for Advanced training.  Evening hours are definitely preferred over daytime hours with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, then Monday being the weekday preference.  Everyone definitely wants a course sooner vs. later as the response for Feb/March training was almost triple any other time of the year.
